![]() Mutianyu Great Wall
![]() Mutianyu Great Wall is situated in Huairou County about 70km from Beijing. I t is in the north of Beijing. It is also a famous section of Great Wall. Mutianyu Great Wall is the tourist attaction which combines the ancient Chinese history and Chinese glorious culture and the gorgeous natural landscape. Mutianyu Great Wall was built in Ming dynasty by the leading of the general Xu Da in the control of first emperor Zhu Yuanzhang of Ming. By now, it has the history over 600 years. In the past, it was used to serve as the northern protective screen, guarding the capital and imperial mausoleums from generation to generation. Mutianyu section is one of the best-preserved parts of Great Wall. It deserves your visiting and touring. In the year of 1992, it obtained the most popular scenery spot of Beijing. Besides, it got the rank of 4A in the year of 2002 and 5A in the year of 2011. Mutianyu Great Wall is connected with Yongguan and Badaling in the west. In the east, it is connected with Jinshanling. The lowest height above sea level is 486m long and highest is over 800m. There are 26 watchtowers along the Mutianyu section with the length of 3000m. The Mutianyu Pass is composed of 3 watchtowers, one big in the centre and two smaller on both sides. Besides, this section of Great Wall is surrounded by woodland and streams.
